BUILD - WEST SUSSEX Our clients had been looking to acquire a building plot for several years. Whilst out for a weekend walk they stumbled upon a derelict house on the cliffs of New Haven, overlooking the English Channel. With our advice and support, they made many enquiries and eventually managed to purchase the derelict and after knocking it down, found it made a perfect building plot. Something we would recommend to every potential self-builder ‘’be imaginative’’ in all aspects, particularly when finding a building plot. Once Hardy Associates had gained planning approval and obtained several quotations for the construction of the dwelling, the client chose Hardy Homes to construct the principle shell. The project was constructed with a 150mm overall frame, inclusive of a 50mm service duct, with Fermacell board as the internal finish and cedar cladding externally. Giving a U value of 0.29. Our client employed their own plumber and electrician and purchased the kitchen and sanitary ware directly. With the benefit of a grey water system, interior decoration/design and landscaping, the project was soon completed. The build cost was £120,000.00 and made a superb family home, accommodating the family requirements. This project has since been televised by Channel 4 on the ‘Grand Designs’ series. |
