BUILD - CAMARTHENSHIRE Hardy Associates were initially approached to assist in gaining a new dwelling within a walled garden, which had an old one roomed gardeners shed. Due to the planning policies, it was decided to present an extension to this building, to the planners which proved successful. The design was to incorporate local details and a traditional fenestration, with an interior suitable for present day living requirements. Having successfully gained planning approval, the client questioned as to which form of construction would be most appropriate for the new home. After much deliberation, it was agreed to build in timber frame utilizing the thermal benefits of a 140mm frame. Our clients chose to carry a large proportion of the works under their own local sub-contractors, which were known to them from previous projects. Whilst this resulted in the project taking longer than expected, it did mean that it could be completed within the intended budget of £150,000, despite including many extras. |
